    I freaking loved this show, thought it was so weird that it kind of got shit on by the critics and really didn't get a lot of attention or buzz.

    Vert Wermer as the young David Aston-Hughes in season 4 of Streets of Hollywood reminds me of the way the late Douglas Fourtane might play the role of Francis Ford Coupe.

    Chiaroscuro. He describes its perfectly for the movie at 1:53 and that's oddly enough why that line makes so much sense to me, 'you need an Italian to tell this tale'. The nature of light and dark is intrinsic. The lines in the beginning about the movie being about "family" ultimately does make the movie a nuanced yet somewhat relatable look into the Chiaroscuro of life outside social conventions(crime). American Gangster" did this somewhat well as Denzel is amazing at giving nuanced approaches to the roles he takes as seen in "Training day". As far as gangster movies that are endearing this is is possibly the greatest. I'm not to big on the crime genre but I do love poetry and the study of relationships(Math). So i can see what it is now that was being aimed for in "The Godfather" if this was somewhat how Mr. Coppola thought. I myself am a die hard fan of Apocalypse now. Its one of the couple of movies I paid for. Oddly enough it made it into the ranks of "Good-burger" for me. LMAO. Some times a good movie for me is just pure nostalgia and emotion. Which is why I need to purchase "Wolf of Wallstreet", and "Once upon a time in Hollywood", Gang of New York, and "There will be blood". I'm sure there are others but when you can make me feel like apart of that time or bring me good vibes I'm all in. Even the movie " Party monster" captures that time in New York quite masterfully. So many good movies. So many good directors. So many talented and great actors. Its a decent time to be alive. Decent : )

    The movie about the movie is not as good as the movie, but it tells you something about how good the movie is that people even want to make a movie about the movie.

    This is all enjoyable.. 1 problem tho; You could infer & gleam virtually every insight here by just Watching the Motherfucking Godfather. Spending millions to basically highlight the virtues of a 50+ year old film via 2nd hand facsimile, Merely shines a light on the anemic status of film making in our sad age choked by Nostalgia. Write something new.

    I love at the end of the scene in the bathroom he let's Al place his hand for the gun naturally and sees where that is, then he goes to the prop guy and tells him to put the gun on the opposite side to make Al freak out for on camera so he can capture that anxiety on celluloid for all time. Friggin beautiful

    Coppola, after the great grand success of "The Godfather" said to his assistant.. do you really want to become a successful director? I will share a few tips. Number one, you must have a complete screenplay in your hand. Some minor changes can be ok. Number two, you must work with such a cast and crew which believes in your talent and you have worked with them before. Number three, you must try and keep your actors happy and contented so that their right performance comes out. The assistant was so happy to hear this great advice from his master and shook hands with him. And then Coppola's voice changed suddenly and face became pale. He said to his assistant, trust me.. I didn't have any of the things with me when I made "The Godfather"!

    I really like the way this movie is very "period" but doesn' over egg the performances and dress styles, they seem like real people. Too many show's are like Madmen with absurdly false ways of behaving as if people from different era's are different from us.

    • @redadamearth
      @redadamearth 22 дні тому

      It's almost miraculous how good the series was in that sense. It could have so easily been ridiculous - but it was done with such taste and style and focus, I still find it kind of hard to believe. I watched all 10 episodes again recently and I really think it was overlooked. And the Robert Evans performance was just incredible.

      Mad Men did it deliberately though, it was a design choice to overly style, overly present, overly veneer, overly... advertise itself.

    • @StudioMod
      @StudioMod 21 день тому

      You're sorta off about this. The way people acted years ago is not even recognizable to how we are today. Hell, even in the 90s when I was growing up people were weird. And I remember all the way back then thinking people in the 70s and 80s sounded and acted so weird in films that weren't period pieces and were just normal movies. You can't imagine how different it was the further you go back. Shows like Madmen are much more accurate. Injecting modern behaviors, mannerisms, and styles into settings that are meant to take place at a specific period is lazy and inaccurate. Period.

    This was a brilliant show the was some changes to the truth for entertainment reasons like micky cohen involved I have found out that he was in jail at the time of the production of the film but that's ok because its not a documentary the casting was really good that bit in the bathroom is epic and clever making sure the gun hard to find it's also interesting seeing how hard it was to get the film made

      To be honest, the chemistry those two actors have in the show, I would watch a stage play the two of them in character writing the Godfather. I imagine there are more stories from when Coppola and Puzo were writing it; they probably could make a stage play out of it
